France To Send 'La Guerre Est Declaree' To Oscars

 France has chosen "La guerre est declaree" ("War is declared") to represent it at next year's Oscars.

Each year, countries are invited to submit a film to be considered for the Academy Award for the best foreign language film.

A committee at the National Center for Cinematography chose the film Friday.


La Guerre est déclarée is a 2011 French film directed by Valérie Donzelli, and written by her and Jérémie Elkaïm. It was released on the 31 August 2011.

"La Guerre est declaree" is about the difficulties faced by a couple whose son is seriously ill. It was directed by Valerie Donzelli and has won a handful of prizes in France.
