'Adaminte Makan Abu' Chosen as India's Oscar Entry


  India's entry for the 84th Oscar Awards will be South Indian Malayalam language film Adaminte Makan Abu (Abu, Son of Adam), the directorial debut by Salim Ahamed.
 Starring Salim Kumar and veteran actress Zarina Wahab, the film revolves around a Muslim couple’s efforts to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca. Adaminte Makan Abu was chosen from among 16 selections, including six Hindi and five regional language films by a 14-member jury of the Film Federation of India.
  Released this summer, Adaminte Makan Abu was critically acclaimed while winning four nods including best feature film at this year's National Film Awards organized by the government.
